LexMapr

We use the tool LexMapr to identify potential FoodOn identifiers for food items from our FCTs. LexMapr is a Django application that accepts CSV files as input and returns a file with information about matches and potential matches of submitted food labels with FoodOn identifiers.

LexMapr reads a list of food item labels and then returns the following columns: Sample_Desc, Processed_Sample, Processed_Sample (With Scientific Name), Matched_Components, Match_Status(Macro Level), and Third Party Classification.

Reviewing a set of food items after LexMapr processing

An example of the result of LexMapr processing is available: [[1]].

To review the matches proposed by LexMapr, take a look at the column Matched_Components.

We are only interested in terms that begin "FOODON_". If you see terms that begin with "PATO_" or "NCBITAXON_" or "ENVO_" or "CHEBI_" please ignore. These are terms from other ontologies. We are only look for terms from the FoodOn ontology.

We expect that a food item would only have 1 FoodOn identifier.

We know that a set of food items has been reviewed when there is a new column "FoodOn id result + reviewer name" that has been filled out with "no match" or a single FoodOn identifier in the format "FOODON_00003427". An example of this is in column "FoodOn id result Kat". You may also create another new column with the title "your name comments" where you can record any questions or comments that you have.
